W. G. Nunn Elementary School was recognized by The Georgia Department of Education as an Operational School. Each year, the Georgia Department of Education recognizes PBIS implementing schools at one of four levels: Installing, Emerging, Operational, or Distinguished.
Superintendent Dr. Craig Lockhart, presented W. G. Nunn with a certificate this afternoon, accompanied by a letter from Georgia's State School Superintendent, Richard Woods. In this letter, Mr. Woods stated, "the success of a school and of its students is dependent on the unified efforts of teachers, administrators, district leaders, and others. Thank you for your focus on improving student achievement and school climate through the implementation of PBIS, an evidenced-based, multi-tiered system of support."
By embodying these principles, the school has created a focused environment where students are empowered to achieve their highest potential. The success of the PBIS implementation and the Operational School designation reflect the school's dedication to a shared vision of excellence, strong core values, and a commitment to victory in both academics and personal growth. The entire school community—staff, students, and families—can take pride in this achievement, as it reflects their collective efforts to create an environment where every child can thrive.
