Valdosta City Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Travis Lewis as the new Principal of J.L. Lomax. Mr. Lewis will assume this role, following the promotion of the previous principal, Dr. Tret Witherspoon.
Mr. Lewis embarked on his educational journey in 2007 as a First Grade Teacher at Pineview Elementary School. At this school, he also served as a Fifth Grade Teacher, Science Coordinator, and Wellness Coordinator.
In 2018, he advanced to administration as the Dean of Students/Assistant Administration at Tallahassee School of Math & Science. The following year, he moved to Valdosta, GA to serve as the Assistant Principal of WG Nunn Elementary School. He has fulfilled this role to this present date.
Mr. Lewis stated "I believe education is the pathway for success and I’m excited to start my journey at J.L. Lomax. " We look forward to seeing a continued impact as Mr. Lewis moves to J. L. Lomax Elementary School, and we appreciate his desire to advance his career in our school system.
