For thirty years, Ms. Barbara Bell has been more than just a bus driver - she has been a guardian, a friend, and a constant presence in the lives of countless students. Each morning and afternoon, she has ensured our children arrive safely at their destination, regardless of weather or circumstance.

Ms. Bell provides behavior strategies to new drivers that are assuming routes at the alternative school. Her safety strategies have led to the discovery of unauthorized vaping devices on buses.

Mr. Travis Jones, who is Ms. Bell’s supervisor, states that Barbara is always early to work and she's dressed in business attire daily, which exemplifies her professional characteristics.

Throughout her three decades of service, Ms. Bell has:

  • Safely transported thousands of children

  • Watched students grow from kindergarteners to high school graduates

  • Demonstrated unwavering commitment to student safety and well-being

The impact of a dedicated school bus driver extends far beyond the route they drive. For many students, Ms. Bell has been the first friendly face they see in the morning and the last goodbye they hear each afternoon. Her consistency, professionalism, and caring nature have helped establish the positive tone for countless school days.

From all of us at Valdosta City Schools, we express our deepest appreciation for your thirty years of excellence, dedication, and service to our community and honor you as our Valdosta City Schools 3V Champion for the month of January.
