Group Photo at the state capitol

School Counselors Danita Boyd from Pinevale Elementary School and Regina Kimbrough from J.L. Lomax Elementary School represented Valdosta City Schools at the State Capitol on Tuesday in celebration of National School Counseling Week. They joined counselors from across the state for the event. The day began at the Georgia Department of Education, where they participated in discussions about how their involvement in legislative and policy advocacy impacts students and the counseling profession at the school, district, and state levels.

Afterward, the counselors visited the State Capitol for the "Counselors at the Capitol" event, where they had the opportunity to take photos with the governor, as well as with Mayor Scott James Matheson, Representative Dexter Sharper (who was visiting the Hill from our hometown), and Senator Freddie Powell Sims from the Albany area (GCSA Region 6).
