Valdosta City Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Ditranna Walker as the new Principal of Valdosta Early College Academy. Ms. Walker, who has served the Valdosta community with distinction in various leadership roles, brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for education to her new position.
Ms. Walker’s career in education began in 2001 at East Central Technical College in Fitzgerald, GA, before she spent a decade with the Lowndes County School System as a Lead Teacher and English Content Leader. In 2017, she expanded her horizons internationally, working for the Abu Dhabi Education Council/Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates, where she served as a Lead English Teacher and English Coordinator.
In 2019, Ms. Walker returned to Valdosta and began teaching English Language Arts at J.L. Newbern Middle School. She quickly progressed, taking on leadership roles as Academic Coach in 2020 and Dean of Students in 2022. Most recently, she served as Assistant Principal at J.L. Newbern Middle School before transitioning to Valdosta Early College Academy.
Throughout her career, Ms. Walker has shown a commitment to professional growth, earning numerous endorsements and certifications in Educational Leadership, Teacher Support & Coaching, Gifted Education, Middle Grades Education, and various subjects, including Language Arts, Reading, and Social Science. Her dedication to continuous improvement reflects her strong belief in the power of education to transform lives.
Ms. Walker’s leadership is rooted in her unwavering dedication to the academic success of her students. With her extensive experience in both local and international educational environments, she brings a global perspective to her role at Valdosta Early College Academy. Her vision for the school is one of academic excellence, innovation, and a supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
In her own words, Ms. Walker shared, “A true servant leader doesn't seek a title but instead earns trust, doesn't demand respect but gives it freely, and doesn't aim to be the greatest, but strives to bring out greatness in others.” This philosophy drives her leadership and guides her approach to supporting both students and staff in their pursuit of excellence.
