Valdosta Early College Academy

The Valdosta Municipal Court, and its Judge, Jeremy Baker, partnered with Valdosta Early College Academy to conduct a Mock Trial during Georgia Cities Week. 9th grade scholars were split into two teams and were assigned roles to assume during the mock trial. The teams were then mentored and coached over the course of about 6 weeks by Judge Baker and were instructed on how to write opening and closing statements, direct examination questions, and cross examination questions. Scholars were also instructed on law terms and how to conduct a trial. This experience was invaluable to our scholars and they exceeded expectations!
