School-led programs have an innate ability to inspire, uplift, motivate, encourage, and educate all who have an opportunity to take part in the roles those programs play. On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, Valdosta Early College Academy 6th - 12th-grade students answered the call to present their talents in the annual Black history program held on the campus of Valdosta State University. These students, under the instruction of Ms. Ross, ELA teacher, presented to an audience of eager viewers their presentation through journalistic dialogues, one-woman monologues, poetry, a reenactment skit, a musical presentation from the Valdosta Early College Academy's band, conducted by Mrs. Julie Savoie, and musical selections from our choir, Voices of VECA, orchestrated by Ms. Jennifer Tooley, choir director, with an ending speech from the principal, Dr. Johnnie Marshall all of which represented the National Black History 2023 Theme, "Black Resistance".
