Students participating will receive extra play time outside from their normal routine and pizza! That means normal recess and elective AND THEN MORE PLAY TIME! Also, leading up to our Black History Program on Friday, Feb. 23rd, students may choose to dress up (following appropriate dress code) in lieu of wearing their uniform. 🔬🧪Calling all 4th and 5th grade scientists!🧪🔬 This Thursday, February 8th, our CATalyst teachers will hold an interest meeting during the 4th and 5th grade scheduled elective times. Students interested in participating in SME's Science Fair 2024 will come to Room 4 to learn more! We will share the expectations of the projects, along with other pertinent information. If they decide to proceed with the process, these students will come home with more information for you and your child to read over, sign, and return. We encourage all of our 4th and 5th graders to come learn how they can enhance and expand their learning beyond the classroom! Parents, we ask you to promote and encourage this wonderful opportunity for your child! You will also be a part of this process, so please be on the lookout for more information.

🍪It's fundraiser time!🍪 Our Cookie Dough Fundraiser is back! Today, your child will come home with a packet of information explaining how they have an opportunity to win some fun prizes. Some prizes include receiving free ice cream🍦 for 5 days from the lunchroom, a chance to spin the money wheel for cash💲, and more! Help your child earn their first prize by selling just 1 item! Two ways to sell: 1. In person option: Selling cookie dough from the pamphlet. Be sure to collect the orders and money prior to Friday, Feb. 9th. 2. 🏃🏽‍♀️Calling all SME girls from 3rd-5th grade! It is time for the spring sign up for Girls on the Run. This program is a fun, evidence-based program that inspires all girls to build their confidence, kindness and decision making skills. Dynamic lessons instill valuable life skills including the important connection between physical and emotional health. (Girls on the Run, South Georgia). Please use the information to sign up today! 📝🖼️We invite you, all of our SME Families, to join us for our 2nd annual Author and Art Exhibit on Thursday, January 18th, from 5:30-6:30 PM! 🖼️📝 Come discover all of the hard work your child has been putting into their writing and artwork this school year. We will even display those who have been awarded a ribbon of achievement. From these awarded writings, one writing per grade level will be chosen to submit to the district writing fair to possibly compete in the Young Georgia Author Writing Competition. SME had 2 of the 5 district winners last year! We hope that you can spare your time and support for all of these talented writers by stopping by next Thursday!

🎉Congratulations to all of our 2023 SME Spelling Bee participants!🎉 Our placed winners are: 🥇Vraj Patel 🥈Trey Jenkins 🥉Judah Burke On Friday, December 18th our 4th and 5th grade classroom spelling bee winners participated in our annual school competition. This group of students gave it their all! We are so proud of each participant. 🎄Wednesday, December 20th-Early Dismissal🎄 Please adhere to the following times and instructions to ensure a safe dismissal and arrival at home for all of our SME students. Car Riders: PreK, K, 1, 2 @11:45, Grades 3-5 @12:00pm Please display your printed car tags in your car window. DayCare: 12:00 pm Please contact your child’s daycare to make sure they are picking up early. If not, make other arrangements. VCS Buses: At 12:30pm buses are scheduled to leave SME campus. Make sure someone is at home to receive children off the bus. Winter break is December 21st - January 5th. We look forward to seeing your children returning on Monday, January 8th!
