Valdosta City Schools is proud to announce that Jarred Hart has been named the new principal of Sallas Mahone Elementary School. With over 23 years of dedicated service in education, Hart brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new role. He will officially move into the role in July of 2025.
A native of Clinch County, Georgia, Hart began his educational career in 2001 with Turner County Schools as a health and physical education teacher and coach, working with both boys’ and girls’ teams in football, baseball, and basketball. In 2004, he transitioned to Clinch County Schools, where he remained until 2022. During his tenure there, Hart taught science, health, and physical education, while coaching a variety of sports including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, and football.
In 2022, Hart joined Valdosta City Schools as an assistant principal at Valdosta High School, where he has been instrumental in supporting student achievement, teacher development, and fostering a positive school climate.
Hart is a proud graduate of Valdosta State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2000, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2013, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership in 2018.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Hart as the new principal of Sallas Mahone Elementary,” said Superintendent Dr. Craig Lockhart. “His extensive background as both an educator and coach, combined with his leadership experience, make him an excellent fit to lead our school community.”
Hart expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I am honored to serve as the principal of Sallas Mahone Elementary School. I look forward to working alongside our talented staff, dedicated families, and outstanding students to continue building a culture of excellence.
