NMS Family, This is a reminder that Newbern Middle School will reopen tomorrow, September 6th, as we work towards returning to a sense of normalcy. While we understand that the road to recovery may still be ongoing for many, we want to assure you that our schools are here to provide a safe and welcoming environment for your children. Please be patient with us as we reopen. We are VCS. Vision, Value, Victory.
Students return to school on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 following the closures due to Hurricane Idalia. All bus stops will remain the same. Please be patient as some routes may be a little delayed in the mornings and afternoons. We appreciate everyone working together to bring our students back into our schools.
Valdosta City Schools will remain closed on Thursday, August 31, due to widespread power outages and trees down across Valdosta-Lowndes County. District staff have limited access to communication tools but will work closely with Lowndes County Emergency Management to provide updates.
Newbern Middle School will be closing tomorrow as well. We will need time to assess damage, restore power, and clear roads. We will take it one day at a time.

NMS Family, We had another fantastic day today. Please remind your child about VCS dress code. Clothing with large holes, slides, bedroom shoes, or shoes without a back are are UNACCEPTABLE. J.L. Newbern Middle School will open it's school doors at 7:45 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 7:45- 8:25 am. The tardy bell rings at 8:30 a.m. Instruction begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. The school day ends at 3:30 p.m. Let's have a fantastic year.

This professional development opportunity provided instructional leaders with tools to continue to support educators in our ultimate goal of student success through continuous school improvement.
