Sean Mullins

Valdosta City Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Sean Mullins as the new Executive Director of Technology. With more than a decade of experience in educational technology leadership and over $1 million in successfully secured and managed state and federal grant funding, Mr. Mullins brings a wealth of knowledge and innovation to the district. He will officially begin his role on July 1, 2025.

Mr. Mullins most recently served as the Director of Technology and Digital Learning for Lumpkin County Schools. In this role, he led the development and execution of a district-wide technology strategy, managed a $600,000 annual technology budget, and spearheaded major infrastructure projects including the implementation of a new student information system and single sign-on platform. His leadership in this capacity resulted in stronger cybersecurity protocols, improved instructional integration, and enhanced digital learning experiences across the district.

In addition to his district-level leadership, Mr. Mullins is also a long-time Computer Science Instructor at the University of North Georgia. His experience in higher education has helped shape his approach to professional development and instructional design, ensuring technology is a tool that enhances—not complicates—teaching and learning.

Mr. Mullins holds a Master of Science in Applied Computer Science from Kennesaw State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and an Associate of Education from the University of North Georgia. His background in both instructional and technical fields positions him well to lead Valdosta City Schools in continued digital transformation.

“I am honored to join Valdosta City Schools as the Executive Director of Technology,” said Mullins. “I look forward to working alongside educators, staff, and community partners to build innovative, secure, and equitable technology solutions that support student success and district growth.”

Superintendent Dr. Craig Lockhart shared, “We are excited to welcome Mr. Mullins to Valdosta City Schools. His extensive experience in instructional technology, infrastructure planning, and grant management brings a level of expertise that will greatly benefit our students, staff, and community. He is a strategic thinker who understands how to build systems that empower teaching and learning.”
