Math Students

“What’s Happening this March? “

The students from the Maceo A. Horne Learning Center’s Middle School hallway are in Dr.Denise Cobb’s Math Class is learning to simplify expressions. The learning objectives from the Simplifying Expressions concepts include identifying algebraic expressions with both “like and unlike” terms. Additionally, students will learn to combine “like” terms”, using the Distributive Property Formula to isolate and solve for the “missing variable” while they write word phrases as Algebraic Expressions. Doubtless, the concept of Simplifying Expressions can be challenging for students, however, Dr. Cobb expressed hope when she stated, “…one thing I have found is that students need to have, a good understanding of adding and subtracting integers, in order for Simplifying Expressions, to go over well. But if they (students) understand the foundations of integer rules, things will inherently go smoother. Like with anything, math students have to practice.” A big salute to Dr. Cobb, and all of the HLC Middle Faculty, for their quest to educate, elevate, and motivate students.
