VHS Senior Quarterback Todd Robinson named Player of the Week by GHSF Daily (sponsored by Coach Craig Musselwhite of Sports Turf). There are more than 400 high schools and thousands of players in Georgia. Their editors spend hours reviewing top player performances from games all over the state to determine the player who had the biggest and best game from the past weekend.
Todd had a huge game Saturday afternoon in the 56-43 victory over fourth-ranked Camden County High School in Class 6A. He completed 21 passes for 269 yards, including one touchdown throw and rushed for 132 yards and scored four more touchdowns on 23 carries. Guest speaker Ted Langford recognized several other players as he noted it takes a team effort to win.
One of the editors from GHSF Daily stated, "Todd Robinson is a great leader for a team that continues to put Valdosta where it belongs - at the top of Georgia high school football. Todd has always been a great runner. He's made himself an outstanding passer. He epitomizes this team that makes no excuses and takes what they are dealt and adapts like champions do."
Todd's performance has captured the attention of many colleges. He has reported he will be playing college football at the University of Georgia next season. Todd and the rest of our talented Valdosta football team is still unbeaten at 6-0 and ranked fourth in the state in Class 6A. This is our highest ranking in the state since 2014. Mr. Langford continued to mention the upcoming Friday night game against Colquitt County. He said "It should be a tough game, but I like your chances if Todd and this team play like they did last week against Camden County."
We are so proud of Todd and the whole Valdosta Wildcat football team. We hope you can come out and support them tomorrow at 8pm in Bazemore-Hyder Stadium!
