

Arthur Morin Cultural Connection Scholarship
Mr. Arthur Morin was a passionate advocate for cultural connection and language learning. Born in France, raised in the U.S., and having spent part of his career in Puerto Rico and Spain, he was fluent in French, Spanish, and English. As the owner of a marketing firm in Quitman, Georgia, he dedicated himself to building bridges between communities, fostering relationships, and breaking through cultural and linguistic barriers.
Mr. Morin founded the Valdosta Latino Association with the goal of connecting the Latino and non-Latino communities in South Georgia. He was also actively involved in a local French club and the Quitman Gardening Club, demonstrating his deep appreciation for culture, language, and meaningful human connections.
Scholarship Overview
The Arthur Morin Cultural Connection Scholarship awards $1,000 to a graduating senior from Valdosta High School or Valdosta Early College Academy who embraces cultural awareness, language learning, and cross-cultural connections. This scholarship recognizes students who actively seek to engage with diverse communities and are committed to fostering inclusivity and understanding.
Eligibility Criteria
Must be a senior at Valdosta High School or Valdosta Early College Academy at the time of application.
Must have completed three or more semesters of a foreign language by the time of graduation.
Must be planning to attend an accredited two-year college, four-year university, or technical school.
Financial need is not a requirement.

Bright Start Brighter Futures Scholarship
The Bright Start Brighter Futures Scholarship is awarded annually to two graduating seniors of Valdosta City Schools who attended a local daycare center with a state-funded Pre-K program. This scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated resilience, academic achievement, and a commitment to their future goals.
Two scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded.
Eligibility Criteria:
Must be a graduating senior of Valdosta City Schools.
Must have attended a local daycare center with a state-funded Pre-K program.

Edward Colton Dean Memorial Scholarship
The Edward Colton Dean Memorial Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship available to a graduating senior involved in the VHS Naval JROTC program who plans to attend a college, university or technical school.
Who was Edward Colton Dean?
Edward Colton Dean, or Colt, as his friends and family called him, was a Wildcat to his core! He could make friends easily and loved everything about the JROTC program. Following in his brother Reed's footsteps at VHS was a challenge Colt accepted and one he excelled at as a VHS Cadet. He felt that leadership was giving your all for the sake of those around you. He strived to lead not by force, but by integrity, honor, empathy and honesty. This scholarship is to honor his efforts, his memory and his friendships through the VHS Naval JROTC.

The Ella's Way Scholarship
The Ella’s Way Scholarship is an annual $1,000 award for a Valdosta High School or Valdosta Early College Academy senior, presented by Ella's Top Corral in partnership with the following local businesses, Citizens Community Bank, CJB, Inc., Farmers and Merchants Bank, and Langdale Vallotton .
It recognizes a student with strong academics, financial need, and a commitment to service. Eligibility requires U.S. citizenship, Georgia residency, and school attendance during the scholarship year.

Harley Langdale Jr. Foundation, Inc. Scholarship
Up to five (5) $500 scholarships will be awarded to students from Valdosta High School and/or Valdosta Early College Academy planning to attend technical school, college or university within the state of Georgia. The Harley Langdale, Jr. Foundation was formed in 1958 exclusively for charitable, educational, scientific or religious purposes. The Foundation seeks to enhance our community and to promote the entrepreneurial spirit that Harley Langdale, Jr. exhibited throughout his life. Our focus is the support of education programs, health care initiatives, faith based activities, youth programs and other initiatives to foster community improvement primarily in Georgia.

Horne Learning Center Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Must be a graduating senior from Valdosta City Schools.
Must have attended Horne Learning Center for one complete semester anytime during 6th through 12th grades and then successfully transitioned back to their home school.
Must be planning to attend a technical college, college, or university and provide proof of acceptance.
This is a one-time $500 scholarship, payable directly to the selected student's college, university, or technical college.

Kicks for Cats Scholarship
A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student from Valdosta High School or Valdosta Early College Academy planning to attend technical school, college or university. If you are interested, please submit a completed application no later than 11:59 pm on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Kicks for Cats is a nonprofit organization founded by Brayden Anderson and Jay Ball, two VHS Wildcats, that provides shoes for students in need in the Valdosta City School system. Jay's sister, Lauren has taken over the leadership of the program since both young men graduated in 2024.

Lana N. Cason Memorial Scholarship
The Lana N. Cason Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Lana N. Cason, who was dedicated to education and community service. This scholarship aims to support graduating high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
Lana Nicole Duncan Cason was a proud graduate of the VHS Class of 1987 and a member of the Marchin' Cats. She worked as a social worker in Valdosta City Schools from 2015 until her untimely passing in March 2025. She was also the loving wife of former superintendent, Dr. William Todd Cason.
This scholarship is awarded in her memory for students who are working toward a career in Education or Social Services.
Scholarship Award:
$1,000 scholarship awarded annually.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a graduating senior from an accredited high school.
Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Must demonstrate leadership, community service, and extracurricular involvement.
Must submit a completed application, including an essay and letters of recommendation.
Extra consideration will be given to students who meet one or more of the following criteria:
Attended J.L. Newbern Middle School.
Are members of the VHS Marchin' Cats.
Have an interest in pursuing a degree in Education or Social Services.

Mama Gale Thomas Eger Scholarship
The Mama Gale Thomas Eger Scholarship is a $500 award presented to a graduating senior of Valdosta High School or Valdosta Early College Academy who has demonstrated a passion for fine arts, specifically in theatre arts. This scholarship honors the legacy of Sandra Gale Thomas Eger, a dedicated educator, performer, and advocate for the arts. Gale’s impact on students and the Valdosta theatre community was profound, and this scholarship continues her mission of fostering a love for the performing arts.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must have been actively involved in theatre arts from middle school through high school.
The applicant must demonstrate plans to continue involvement in theatre arts at the collegiate level.
The applicant must provide the name of the college they plan to attend. (Students planning to attend Valdosta State University are not eligible for this scholarship through VHS. They can apply directly through VSU for the same scholarship.)
The applicant should express any intentions to work with local or community theatre groups or art programs while in college and beyond.
The applicant should list any volunteer work with Valdosta-area theatre groups or community arts programming.

Roosevelt Lowther Memorial Scholarship
Mr. Roosevelt Lowther was a beloved member of the Valdosta Wildcat community and this scholarship was established by family and friends to honor his lifelong Wildcat legacy.
Mr. Lowther spent his entire career in Valdosta City Schools. He began in August of 1979 serving one year at Valdosta High School. In 1980, he moved to Valdosta Junior High School and spent 14 years teaching in the science department. During the summer of 1994 he moved back to Valdosta High School where he completed 21 more years teaching various science courses. Lowther retired in May of 2014 but came back for one year as a part-time science teacher. Following that year, he has remained a constant on the campus of VHS as a long-term and day to day substitute teacher. He loved his Friday night responsibilities as the "on-duty" teacher for the VHS student section at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.

SGMC Health Scholarship
The SGMC Health Scholarship was established in 2023 by a generous gift from the SGMC Foundation in order to provide scholarships to Valdosta High School and/or Valdosta Early College Academy seniors seeking to pursue a career in the field of health care. The SGMC Health Scholarship exists to alleviate some of the financial burden of higher education in order to help create a future for healthcare students in South Georgia. SGMC Health Scholarship recipients will be awarded $1,000.
SGMC Health Scholarship recipients must be the following criterion:
VHS/VECA Seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher interested in seeking a career in the healthcare industry
Students must plan on attending a post-secondary institution in the State of Georgia during the duration of the scholarship year
Students must have an expressed interest in returning to South Georgia to serve in the field of health care upon college graduation.
Student must be a U.S. citizen

S.L. Mason Elementary Scholarship

Southeast Capital Investment Group Raymond James Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Must be a graduating senior from Valdosta City Schools.

Must exhibit strong leadership skills through school, community, or extracurricular involvement.
Additional Requirements:
Students must submit a resume highlighting their leadership participation.
Students must write a 300-word essay answering the question: "What Makes a Good Leader?"
At least one letter of recommendation.
This is a one-time $1,000 scholarship, payable directly to the selected student's college, university, or technical college.

VCS Foundation Annual Scholarship
The Valdosta City Schools Foundation, Inc. has $1,000 scholarship(s) available for students who are currently enrolled in Valdosta High School or Valdosta Early College Academy and plan to attend a college, university or technical school.
How To Apply:
Student applicants must complete all required application materials outlined below. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Have an adult review your completed application before submitting. The applicant will receive an email with a PDF document of their application for review.
