Our Mission Statement
The School Nutrition Program (SNP) provides Valdosta City School students with an opportunity to have a no-cost, high-quality, and nutritious meals each day. Our program participates in the national school lunch, school breakfast, and after school snack programs. All these programs are regulated and funded by the United States Department of Agriculture with the School and Community Nutrition Unit of the Georgia Department of Education overseeing the program administration. Our staff is committed to ensuring quality food preparation, increasing student involvement in programs, and increasing nutritional education resources. All salaried employees receive six hours of training a year.
Valdosta City Schools will be implementing a program available to the State of Georgia called the Community Eligibility Provisions (CEP) for the 2024 - 2025 school year. All enrolled students of Valdosta City Schools are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at NO CHARGE to your household each day of the 2024 – 2025 school year. Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee. If you were paying for full-priced or reduced-priced meals in the past, you will not be paying those charges this year for your child to receive a breakfast or lunch.
Please Note the Following Operating Procedures:
Fast Foods & Beverages at Valdosta City Schools In an effort to encourage better nutrition and develop healthy eating habits, students or their parents are not allowed to bring meals purchased from fast food restaurants or any carbonated beverages into the school cafeteria.
An online resource for recalls!
To provide better service in alerting the American people to unsafe, hazardous or defective products, six federal agencies with vastly different jurisdictions have joined together to create www.recalls.gov -- a "one stop shop" for U.S. Government recalls.
