A Message from Superintendent Lockhart

Dear Valdosta City Students, Families, Faculty, and Staff,

As we recover from the effects of Hurricane Helene, I am writing you to express my care and concern for you all.  It is my sincerest prayer that you are all doing as well as can be expected during this time.  As the days progress, Valdosta City Schools will practice “compassion over compliance” as we get ready to come back to school.  I do not want you to be overly concerned about school, grades, activities or classes.  That time will come, but for now, I want you to focus on your families and your health.  This storm has reminded us that people are the most important thing we have, and I want you to take care of yourselves.  Your safety and well-being is all that matters at this time.

You will get information about school reopening, report cards, sporting events, and other school-related needs in the coming days. For now, however, I do not want you to worry about school.  We will be here, and we cannot wait until we are reunited with you all.  We will overcome this challenge and come out of this better than before. Please take care of yourselves, and we will see you soon. Vision, Values, and Victory! GO CATS!
